Match report courtesy of Peter Franklin, Guille Cubes and Gergo Komjati.

Londoners began the game under the pressure of first game nerves; trying to suss out the opponent. “The first half was dominated” by Real Dundonald said Guille Cubes, our “Player of the Year” last season. However according to Cubes Londoners totally dominated the second half, saying “the second was absolutely ours”.

According to Londoners’ scorer, Peter Franklin, the team made sure we stayed in the game after we conceded in minute 7. “Town showed a lot of resilience early on” said Franklin “when the opposition made a fast start and put us under a lot of pressure and scoring within the first 10 minutes”.

London were good at putting into practice the training drills continued Peter. “London Town felt their way into the game and as time went on had more and more possession but lacked quality in the final third.” Understandable in the season’s first game, nerves were present amongst some of our players.

During the second half Londoners grew in confidence and almost scored giving themselves the chance to equalise. Petter added “Once or twice Gergo unlocked Dundonald’s defence to be ruled out for offside by the referee.”

Eventually, after 89 minutes, under sustained pressure Dundonald gave in, as our new left back signing Alex got the ball in a dangerous position and forced the goalkeeper to make a good save. Luckily Peter was there to follow it in and took it home from close range to get London Town their first point of the new campaign.
